I have got to my 2x great grandmother Elizabeth Havard from mill street Abergavenny. Does anybody no anything about the Havard family?

There is a quite detailed family tree on Ancestry.com with this person in it. A lot of people with the Banks surname. Do you know about this. If not please say so and I will post some of the details.

I was just trying to get something concrete on Elizabeth family. I have Elizabeth's mother as being Susan Harvard b1808 and grandparents are Elizabeth b1777 and Benjamin.

I cannot find any proof of this. I cannot find Elizabeth and Benjamin marriage, plus I cannot find a father for Elizabeth Havard b1840

The below is from the 1851 census.

Living at Ty Canol, Llanddew, Brecon (boundaries for Welsh counties have changed a lot from one census to another)

Rees Havard, m. 40, Agricultural Labourer, b. Talachdu, Brecon

Susan Havard, 34, b. Llandyfeiliog, Brecon

Elizabeth Havard, dau, 15, scholar, b. Llandew

Margaret, dau, 8, scholar, b. Llandew

Rees, son, 2, b. St. Johns, Brecon

Haven't checked the above against your family tree to see if it is correct or not, but according to your previous post this confirms you are correct and you now have the father of Elizabeth

Something for you to consider as Havard is unusual for a Welsh surname

Also in the 1851 census

Living at Mill Street, Abergavenny

Elizabeth Havard, head, widow, 72, pauper, formerly charwoman

Susan Havard, dau, 43, charwoman

Jane Havard, grandau, 17, dressmakers asst

John Havard, grandson, 10, scholar

Elizabeth, grandau, 10, scholar (John and Elizabeth are shown as twins)

The 1861 census has Susan at the Mill Street address as head, aged 53, b. Bognor, Sussex

Elizabeth Havard, mother, 86, widow of a farmer, b. Newport, Monmothshire

William Havard, orphan, 2, b. Abergavenny, Mon.

John Havard, 20, farmers lab., b. Abergavenny, Mon

I also found a reference to Susan Havard, 1807-1891 who was living in Abergavenny Workhouse in 1891 and died there

I now see why you are having problems with your tree

And this must be where you got Benjamin from

Name: Susannah Havard, Gender: Female.  Baptism Date: 11 Oct 1807

Baptism Place: South Bersted, Sussex, England

Father: Benjamin Havard

Mother: Elizabeth

FHL Film Number:0918258-59, 0416742, 416749

Is any of this helping you or just confusing you ?

Hi Thank you for your help. I have got all the censuses for Susan that you have put up except the one where she is married to Rees. I do not have this as it shows her being born in brecon rather than bognor. Susan did end up in the Workhouse and they were all living in mill street at the time of the census. On Elizabeth Havard b1940 marriage cert she has stated that her father was Thomas Havard, but I cannot find him.
